I apologize if I have not shown the best communication manners. While this is no excuse I basically work/travel almost every weekend and so it gets hard to plan things. But in spite of this schedule I have been thinking and praying for each of you quite often.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving I remember the kindness that Coach Art had shown to me for which I will remain forever grateful! I had just left my family and home in Dallas and decided to begin a new life for myself in Austin without knowing a soul. I had made a few friends, but my heart was searching for a boxing gym to call home. Money was tight as I just started a business and was not certain how much I could afford; however, when I shared this with Coach Art he allowed me to train for half price. I vowed that I would clean up after myself and help support the gym any way that I could. I loved him!
Today the gym goes by a different name, yet still the same spirit continues along with some faithful followers. It truly is a special place that changes the lives of all that come here to seek knowledge, strength, and wisdom.
I feel blessed that I along with a few of the coaches get to serve as "priests" to all who come through those giant iron doors.
Of course we teach boxing to those hungry minds, yet we preach The Good News to all who have ears to listen. I think that Coach Art would get a kick out of seeing something he planted grow and develop such as it has. Certainly His Spirit lives on through the gym. Happy Thanksgiving, Amen!
