"A chance to dance in the footsteps of Champs!"
It's basically an annual competition between the local boxing gyms with fighters approximately aged from 16 to 40. There are different divisions for each fighter's level of skill. Some competitors will continue on to Regional or National levels before Olympic and professional debuts. It's exciting to be a part of!
My boxing interests developed when I was a young boy and was influenced by the Rocky movies. My older brother used to box with me and my little brother in our living room and imitate a funny accent which cracked us up. He was speaking like Muhammad Ali. He even had the iconic black and white framed picture hung on his dorm wall of the Champ standing victoriously over Sonny Liston.
As I grew older and explored boxing, I learned to appreciate this sport more than any other. I loved it's use of psychology, athleticism, and mental toughness. In many ways, life was like a boxing match. Your attitude determined your altitude, and ultimately your personal happiness. I have tasted both the agony of defeat and the sweetness of victory... and to truly appreciate one is to also know the other.
