One of the highlights of the trip occurred when we were unable to acquire a rental car. After getting fed up with expensive rates and a total disregard for our business, we decided to seek alternative transportation.
Our trip to Denver was a deliberately planned adventure. In other words, we didn't plan much. Aside from last minute Air BnB accommodations (which turned out to be excellent), we simply showed up at the Denver International Airport after flying out of Dallas Love Field early in the morning.
From there we had coffee, boarded a bus into town, and stopped at a deli to have lunch in the heart of the city. We caught an Uber-cab to a park, played checkers, and checked in to our luxury apartment .
We toured the city, walked through Libraries, Museums, and saw Dispensaries. After soaking in the culture, I could easily see why people love this city.
With our feet exhausted, we rented a motorcycle from a local shop and took a scenic day trip carving through the mountain curves to St Mary's Glacier in Idaho Springs, CO. It turned out to be the highlight of the amazing few days we were there. We experienced beautiful sunshine and cool breezes in the city, but mountain weather is very unpredictable. Once we reached Idaho Springs, skies darkened with harbinger clouds. Experience told me to exit the highway and sit out the imminent rain in a dry cafe. The rain poured heavily for 15 minutes while ushering in a cascade of weary travelers.
Almost as suddenly as the rains came down, the sun poked through the clouds drying the freshly cleaned roads for us to finish our journey and arrive at the Glacier safe, warm, and dry.
