'Blues on the Green' (BOTG) is a local favorite as it caters to residents looking for a chilled out bit of respite from the work week. Parking is ridiculous as usual, but due to the thousands in attendance expect traffic to be worse on these days.
There are food booths, pets running around, and kids chasing after them. There is also an abundance of beverages and people smoking out. The crowd is a happy and diverse mixture of hippies, yuppies, homeless, and unclassifiable all helping to 'Keep Austin Weird'.
The music is incredible and features major performers in addition to local bands. Since BOTG takes place in the Summer, it's a good idea to dress comfortably.
An interesting observation was a good number of Drone Helicopter's flying around taking footage of the event and displaying a technological light show (almost like a scene in star wars).
I had a blast and look forward to returning again!
